Sustain Collection

We are excited to share with you our brand new eco collection - Optoplast Sustain.

Our range of cases and cloths have each been carefully crafted from a material called recycled polyethylene terephthalate. Not a phrase that easily rolls of the tongue so we aim to keep it simple and refer to it as rPET.

rPET is created by recycling previously used plastic bottles - head over to page five to discover the process. The collection initially features felt effect cases and a microfibre style fabric cloth and case. 

Why are we doing this? 

GOODBYE SINGLE USE By recycling PET products, we’re giving single use plastic bottles a second life.

REDUCED WASTE Recycling plastics helps decrease the amount of plastic waste that enters landfills or our oceans.

SUPPORTING SCHEMES  By creating awareness and demand for recycled products, we help solidify recycling programs.

 

The process

We chose to use rPET in our products, as we wanted to provide a market for recycled plastics. Read on to discover more about the process.

STEP 1 Plastic bottles are collected and cleaned.

STEP 2 The plastic bottles are then shredded into pellets.

STEP 3 The pellets are then crushed and melted.

STEP 4 Melted plastic is the spun into thread/fabric.

STEP 5 The fabric is transformed into our cases & cloths!
